Our Dutch Line

I will be posting our Dutch line here soon, also. Louisa Marie Racer (wife of Isaac Hoover, our great-great grandfather) was of the family surname DeCoursey (our line changed their name to Racer, the Anglisized version of DeCoursey, during the French/Indian Wars).

Louisa Marie's line goes back to the original colony in New York, then known as New Amsterdam. This family is quite historical, and I will blog much on this line.

This line was in the original colony to settle in New Amsterdam. Jesse DeForest, credited for founding this colony, is our 11th great-grandfather.

Some of the surnames in this line are:

de Course/Corssen/Corzen, etc.
Racer
Van Campen/Kampen
Croy/Cray
Van Oblinis
de Forest/DeForest
Van Garden/Gordon
Christiaens
Vroom
Hendrickse
Verbrugge
Low
Koevert
Simons

and more...coming soon...

My Hoover Clan

Beginning with Jacob Hoover, Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth (unknown maiden name) to his son Jacob, Jr. and his wife also named Elizabeth (maiden name Shoemaker).

Onward to his son, John and wife Catherine (Ritchie), to their son, Isaac (named after his maternal grandfather, Isaac Ritchie) and Isaac's wife Louisa Marie Racer (of the DeCoursey line) and on down the generations...

I intend, with this blog, to document my Hoover family history with photos of family members and the cemeteries they are buried in. I will also post photos of headstones and interesting history of the family and these cemeteries.

Here is a photo of Isaac Hoover, born 11 Nov 1834 in Brocks Gap, Rockingham, VA, USA and died 14 Jan 1916 in Brighton, Washington, IA, USA.

Isaac is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery: Brighton, Washington County, Iowa, USA
